About this course

Ready to inspire the next generation of squash players and make an impact in your community? This course is your step-by-step guide to delivering fun, inclusive and safe squash sessions. You’ll be given essential coaching tools and learn how to deliver our Squash Stars programme – an exciting, fun-packed introduction to squash for kids aged 5–9. 

Who's it for?

This course is perfect for anyone who wants to support squash activities and get new people on court. Whether you’re looking to take your first step into coaching, want to refresh your skills, or a parent wanting to help out, this course will give you the tools and confidence to get on court and lead engaging, inclusive Squash Stars sessions. You’ll also be able to deliver group adult sessions too!

What can I do with this award?

Upon completion of this course, you’ll receive an official England Squash Squash Stars certificate. As long as you meet the pre-requisites, you’ll be to deliver the Squash Stars programme to children aged 5-9. You’ll also be able to lead group adult sessions for beginners. 

Please note: If you’re under 18, you can assist with delivery under the supervision of a qualified adult, but you cannot lead sessions independently.

❗️Pre-requisites

To complete this course you’ll require the following:

  • Be 16 or over on the first day of the course
  • Hold a Safeguarding in squash e-learning course dated within the last 3 years
  • An England Squash enhanced DBS check (required on completion to be insured to coach)

If you don’t already have an England Squash Learning account, you’ll need to link your England Squash membership ID when creating one. Find your England Squash membership ID via your England Squash account.

Not an England Squash member yet? No problem, you’ll just need to create a free England Squash Community Membership, and then sign up via the ‘Take this Course’ button and add your new England Squash membership ID when creating your England Squash Learning account.

Frequently asked questions

What activities can I lead with this course?

Once you’ve completed this course, as long as you have your enhanced DBS, safeguarding certificates, you can start leading Squash Stars sessions.

Please note: If you’re under 18, you can assist with delivery under the supervision of a qualified adult, but you cannot lead sessions independently.

I have no coaching experience. Does this matter?

Absolutely not! This course is designed for those who are new to leading sports sessions, as well as those looking to refresh their skills. Our course will give you all the tools and session plans to confidently deliver fun sessions.

Do I have to follow the Squash Stars programme?

Yes, if you’re delivering Squash Stars, you must follow our programme sessions. These are designed especially for children aged 5-9. Remember, you can adapt the activities to make them easier or harder if you need to.

How do I get a DBS check?

If you don’t already hold an enhanced DBS you will need to start the application process by completing the following form: DBS application form

Once you submit this form, England Squash will review and begin your application with our DBS provider, Know Your People. This may take up to five working days. You’ll then receive an email with instructions to complete your application. Please note, it can take up to 60 days from completing the application for the DBS to be granted.
 
If you already hold an Enhanced DBS check for the child workforce through another organisation and are registered with the DBS Update Service, please do not complete a new application form. Instead, upload your documentation via the compliance section on your learning account. You’ll need the certificate from your original DBS check to complete this process.
How do I find my England Squash membership ID?

To find your England Squash ID just log in to your account, and you will see your England Squash ID on your main dashboard along with a summary of your details. If you’ve forgotten your login details, you can reset them from this login screen.
