Solo practice - figure of 8s

Activity setup

A classic solo (or paired) squash drill that builds control, rhythm, and quick movement through continuous hitting across both side walls.

  • This is a solo activity with one ball and one racket.
  • The player stands around the middle of the court near the T.

What to do:

  • In a classic figure of 8, the player starts by hitting the ball so it hits the front wall (about a foot away from the side wall), and then the side wall before coming back to the player.
  • Repeat on the other side, creating a figure of 8 pattern as the ball alternates walls.
  • The player should try to keep the ball continuously moving between both sides - set challenges for how many they can do in a row without making a mistake.
