About this course

Ready to make a difference and get more people on court? This course is your first step into coaching. You’ll learn the core skills to lead safe, fun, and inclusive sessions that help everyone enjoy being active and feel part of the squash community.

Who's it for?

This course is perfect for anyone passionate about supporting squash activities and getting more people active. Whether you’re a young leader (14+), just starting out, or looking to build on your experience, it’s a great way to grow your skills and confidence

What you'll learn

In this course you’ll cover:

  • How to create a welcoming, safe space for everyone in squash.
  • Coaching techniques based on the England Squash approach, making sessions fun and engaging for all involved.
  • How to deliver group adults sessions using our simple session plans.

What can I do with this award?

Upon completion of this course, you’ll receive an official England Squash Game Changer certificate, the equivalent to a leaders’ qualification.

  • Young leaders (14 and 15) can support coaching in schools, clubs, or community settings.
  • Young people (16 and 17) can assist a qualified coach with adult sessions.
  • Adults (18+) can lead group adult sessions for beginners.

Want to lead children’s activities? Why not check out our Squash Stars Game Changer course instead which allows over 18s to deliver sessions to 5-9 year olds*. Or, take our Community Coach Development qualification to coach people of any age!

*Additional pre-requisites are required to lead children’s sessions including an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training.

Can I assist another coach?

Once you’ve completed Game Changer, if you’re over 16, you can assist a qualified coach with adult sessions. If you’re assisting a coach with sessions for children or adults at risk, you will be required to complete England Squash’s safeguarding training and get an England Squash enhanced DBS check.

If you’re under 16, you can assist a qualified coach with delivering group sessions to children.

Can I lead childrens's activities?

If you want to lead any children’s sessions, or any other community group sessions, why not try our Community Development Coach award?

How do I find my England Squash membership ID?

To find your England Squash ID just log in to your account, and you will see your England Squash ID on your main dashboard along with a summary of your details. If you’ve forgotten your login details, you can reset them from this login screen.

Do I need a DBS for this course?

No. As you’re qualifying as a leader (and not a coach) to lead adult group sessions, you’re not required to have an enhanced DBS check to take this course.
