Inspire through coaching. Create a lasting impact.
About this course
Coaching isn’t just about teaching skills; it’s about creating opportunities for everyone to play, learn, and thrive. This course equips you to coach players of all abilities—whether they’re new, returning, or facing barriers to participation. Combining e-learning with a half-day practical session, you’ll gain the confidence and skills to coach squash sessions, whatever your setting.
To pass, you’ll need to complete all e-learning modules and attend the practical session. Some modules should be completed in advance to get the most out of the hands-on experience. When booking, please check the date of the practical session to ensure you can attend.
Who's it for?
This course is perfect for anyone who wants to use sport to make a difference. Whether coaching beginners, club players, mixed-ability groups, or community programmes, we’ll give you the tools to help players love being active and break down barriers to participation.
What you'll learn
This blended learning course takes around 4–6 weeks to complete. You’ll cover:
- How to become a confident, inclusive coach who can inspire players of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Ways to create safe, welcoming environments that break down barriers to participation.
- Practical tools and techniques to deliver fun, engaging squash sessions in a variety of settings.
- How to adapt your coaching to suit players of different abilities.
- Ways to build connection and create a lasting impact through squash.
What can I do with this award?
Once you complete the course, you’ll be a qualified England Squash Community Development Coach. You’ll have the skills and confidence to independently coach players of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, whether they’re brand new to the game, returning, or facing barriers to participation. You’ll also be equipped to create inclusive sessions and contribute to player development pathways in your community.
Please note: If you’re under 18, you can assist with delivery under the supervision of a qualified adult, but you cannot lead sessions independently. Unfortunately, due to the level of responsibility and duty of care a coach has, you can’t lead sessions independently until you’re legally an adult at 18.
Coaches' club
After qualifying, we’re throwing in 3 months’ free access to England Squash’s exclusive Coaches’ Club which includes:
- Tools, templates and resources to help you deliver great sessions.
- Ongoing learning and development content.
- Access to a supportive coaching network.
- Public liability insurance (terms apply – see below)
⚠️ Please note: Insurance is only valid if you meet all the pre-requisites of the award, including first aid training, safeguarding training, and a valid enhanced DBS check. If you don’t meet these yet, you’ll still get full access to Coaches’ Club resources—but insurance cover will only activate once all requirements are complete.
