Coaching Tips
- Use a relaxed grip, open racket face; tap ball straight up with strings’ center.
- Keep taps gentle—hard/angled taps reduce control.
- Forehand knuckles down; backhand knuckles up; practice forearm rotation without changing grip.
- Maintain short, controlled follow-through; stay balanced with soft knees and stable posture.
- Move lightly on balls of feet; engage core for stability; in lunges align knee over foot and remain low.
Make it easier
- Use a sponge ball; allow bounces.
- Move ball along floor around cones (sweeping taps).
- Permit catching the ball by hand to reset.
Make it harder
- Turn into a timed race—fastest team wins.
- Vary cone layout: different distances/angles.
- Call out cone color/number for random navigation.
Safety
Use the STEP framework—Space, Time, Equipment, and People—to adapt difficulty.
Ensure clear lanes around cones and that under-18s wear protective goggles.
