Coaching Tips

  • Track the ball and stay on the balls of feet for quick adjustments.
  • Maintain a relaxed grip and absorb the ball’s impact for control.
  • Use a short, compact swing at waist height, finishing follow-through toward target.
  • Keep racket face open for lift and avoid big shoulder swings.

Make it easier

  • Allow the ball to bounce once between shots.
  • Allow volleys to hit the walls.

Make it harder

  • Compete against another team: most consecutive volleys or first to a set number.

Safety

Remember to use the STEP framework—Space, Time, Equipment, and People—to adapt any activity for your players.

Always ensure enough space for everyone to participate safely, and that under-18s wear protective goggles.
